Section 508 Compliance

Accessibility and Usability

In 1998, Congress amended the Rehabilitation Act to require Federal agencies and funded agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities.

Under Section 508 (29 U.S.C. ‘ 794d), agencies must give members of the public access to information that is comparable to the access available to others. EvoTech understands the regulations that make up Section 508, but doesn't stop there. It is one thing for a site to be accessible. It is quite another for the site to be usable.

EvoTech develops all their sites to ensure that sites we develop are compliant with 508 standards. We also ensure that the site is navigable.

The benefits of Section 508 Compliance

Not only are you complying with the law, but if your site is accessible to visually impaired persons with a home reader such as JAWS. Your site will also me more accessible to someone with a text reader and a small screen, such as Lynx, cell phones and PDA's.

EvoTech not only codes new sites to meet ssection 508 standards, but can retrofit your existing site to meet federal ADA guidelines. If you would like to have our accessibility experts take a look at your site, please complete our site submission form.
